REX is the studio imprint (and nickname) of Alexander Cardia, an Emmy-Nominated Creative Director, animator, and designer from New York.
Currently, Alexander works full time as a graphics editor with the Visual Investigations team at The New York Times.
He was among the recipients of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting for coverage of Russian atrocities in Bucha, Ukraine.
At The Times, Mr. Cardia designs precise and instructive visuals and uses his expertise in post-production techniques to help interrogate visual evidence. He has covered the assault of Tyre Nichols by the Memphis police, the State investigation into the massacre in Uvalde, Texas, and the expanding Chinese surveillance state.
Before joining The Times, Mr. Cardia served as the Creative Director at Imprint, a mobile platform focused on creating visual learning experiences. He has also worked as Creative Director at a post-production studio for advertising and as a motion graphics designer for numerous films, documentaries, and television productions.
